Off to Albania this morning via Montenegro, the boarder crossing into Montenegro was the first boarder crossing where they requested all of my documents, mine and the bikes! Chris a Dutch guy turned up behind me at the crossing and we decided to ride together for the a couple of days as we were both heading in the same direction.
What wonderful scenery again and so many twisty roads.
Montenegro is poor, I feel we’ve left Europe mainland and are heading into a poorer world! The girls are still beautiful as they have been all the way down the Adriatic Coast. We had a great lunch in a great local restaurant in the mountains before arriving at the Albanian border where again we were required to produce lots of paperwork. We eventually got through and were cautious of the ride as the stories are that Albanian driving has NO rules. It’s true driving in Albania requires extreme awareness, cars, people, cows all do what they want!
Chris and I were due to arrive at our destination when 30km before Chris’s chain broke! A major problem was resolved by 4 great Albanian men who helped us out and ended up drinking beer with us. They stored Chris’s bike overnight and said they would sort it out in the morning…
