Looking back, I was where you are now. Since my school days I have dreamed about adventure travel and didn’t consider finding a coach to help me make my dream come true. Like you I bought books, watched films, YouTube videos and spent time researching my dream. I went to events and spoke to people who had made their dreams come true. I was one of the lucky ones, I was one of the few that made the transition from dreaming to reality. However, over the years I have met hundreds of people who dream of adventure travel, but it never becomes a reality. The dream continues to be a dream. Dreams are wonderful, and you don’t have to make them come true. However, if you feel you might be one of those people who really, really wants your dream to come true, continue reading.
I am an Adventure Travel Coach and I can help make your dreams come true.
Working together I help unlock your thoughts and potential, facilitating your decision making, which culminates in moving beyond indecision, to a change of mindset and achieving your adventure travel dreams. I understand you, I too have questioned my life, had dreams and goals. I have experienced change and realised my goals, working with me can be life-changing.
I have always been a great planner. I planned when to start my adventures, what to take, what to include in my medical kit, … but the one thing I didn’t plan was my mental health. I have experienced the highs & lows of adventure travel, which made me curious about the connection between adventure travel and wellbeing. My curiosity culminated in undertaking a research project for my Master’s degree entitled ‘The motivations and wellbeing experiences of overland travellers on a motorbike’. Adventure travel is emotional. Not only the amazing connections you make with people, those challenges you overcome and your personal growth, but the disappointments and days you question everything and feel homesick.
Working together we can focus on one or all of the elements of adventure travel:
You don’t have to be alone on your journey.
You have a dream and are not sure whether to pursue it. You might doubt your ability, you’re unsure if you should leave your job, rent your house out, take your family or possibly leave them at home. When should your dream start? What preparation is required? How long should you go for? These are some of the questions every adventure traveller asks themselves. I asked myself these questions and many more and can assure you that these are normal thoughts and feelings.
I can help you find answers to these questions. The first decision you need to make is whether you want your dream to come true? If you decide adventure travel isn’t for you, that’s ok. If you decide you want to plan adventure travel then there are many more questions that need answering. Working together I help unlock your thoughts and dreams.
You made the decision to leave on your adventure, you prepared and are now living your dream. However, occasionally you find it difficult to make essential decisions, occasionally you feel low, you miss home and question why you are travelling. These are some of the questions every overland traveller asks themselves. I asked myself these questions and many more and can assure you that these are normal thoughts and feelings.
I can help you find answers to these questions and help with your wellbeing. Together, we can create a mental health strategy for you.
You have been travelling for a long time, you have realised your dream and feel fulfilled. Now you are thinking about returning home. You have seen so many amazing sights, met so many wonderful people and had life-changing experiences. You are not exactly sure how, but you feel you have probably changed. You wonder what life ‘back home’ will be like, where will you live? What will you do for work? How will you fit in? What is your purpose in life? What is your new dream?
You eventually come home, and after the ‘welcome home party’, your family and friends return to their lives. Over the following days, weeks and months, you are left questioning why you came home, how you can fit into life at home. These are some of the questions every overland traveller asks themselves. I asked myself these questions and many more and can assure you that these are normal thoughts and feelings. I wrote this article regarding my experience of returning home after an adventure.
I can help you find answers to these questions and help with your wellbeing. You may think of this as life coaching. Your life is unique, and your coaching experience with me will be unique. Between us we will create a safe, confidential space to explore where you are now, where you desire to be, and create a plan to help you fill the gap and achieve the mindset movement or goal you want.

I left a successful corporate career behind to become a life and business coach, improve the quality of my life and help you. I feel all of my life experiences have funnelled me towards becoming a coach.
Coaching is a powerful conversational intervention where I support you with the change you desire. As a coaching psychologist I use theoretically grounded and scientifically validated techniques to help you change your mindset or reach your goals in your personal, business and adventure life.
You may ponder on what type of coach you want to work with: life coach, adventure travel coach, career coach, business coach, personal development coach, confidence coach… I could go on! I pondered on what type of coaching I could offer; what type of coach am I?
I believe the efficacy and credibility a coach has is dependent on the expertise (skill & knowledge), experience and connection one has. Coaching is an unregulated industry – anyone can start coaching immediately. So how can you determine the level of expertise, experience and connection a coach has? A little research will give you some of the answers; their biography and social media will give you an indication about what life experiences they have had, their qualifications inform you about their skill and knowledge level, and their accreditations and organisation memberships inform you how long they have been coaching and their experience in particular fields. A coach can have years of experience and expertise. However, if you do not have a great connection with your coach, forget it! How you feel about your coach and what you perceive they feel about you is a prerequisite to you achieving the change you desire. Establishing the quality of the connection between you and your coach is easy, you have to meet up, either face to face or online. This is the very essence of why I suggest we meet for a free initial meeting. Only after this can you decide if I am the coach for you.
Looking back, I was exactly where you are now, I had dreams, I wanted progression, I wanted more for myself and my kids. I know what it feels like to want more and realise that progress is slow or non-existent, at times it felt like I was going backwards! The first thing I did was to define what I wanted, then I created a plan of how to achieve it. I followed my plan, with small steps, but always going in the right direction. I enjoyed both the present and developing my future. That started over 20 years ago.
When I decided ‘enough was enough’, and I wanted to be happier and more fulfilled, ‘personal growth, life coaching, SMART goals, authentic behaviour and how to use my strengths to succeed’ wasn’t in my vocabulary. I was alone on my journey.
I left a successful corporate career behind to fulfil my potential and improve the quality of my life. Now, having studied positive psychology and coaching psychology for many years, I recognise my behaviours over the last few decades were ideal for achieving forward movement in my personal and business life. However, it took me many years languishing in my dreams before I started my journey.
You don’t have to be alone on your journey.
Read my bio, and check out my social media where you can read about my experience, successes and personal development. I have started businesses and a charity, worked for corporations and travelled to over 80 countries around the world, and I am a very proud father of two amazing young adults.
I have found a vocation I really love, and my philosophy to coaching is simple; I want to be the best coach I can be for you, and I achieve this by using my expertise, experience and ability to effectively connect with you to help unlock your potential. My intention is to help you flourish, achieving sustainable forward movement towards a change in your mindset and / or achieving your goal(s).
The psychologist Carl Rogers really inspired me. He had a humanistic perspective to psychology and developed the person-centred approach. This means in my practice I have a holistic approach and focus on your self-awareness and thoughtful actions. I believe everyone is individual, has free will and is motivated to achieve their potential and self-actualise (where your personal potential is fully realised). I believe that by focusing on your strengths you can achieve your goal(s) and flourish.
I have worked with both individuals and organisations in Essex, Cambridge & London. You can read testimonials from people I have helped and what they say about their experience of my coaching
I have always helped people and experienced kindness wherever I have travelled throughout the world. However, it was whilst travelling on my Destination Unknown trip that I realised I wanted to focus on helping people. As soon as I returned home, I co-founded Cool to be Kind in Essex.
My interest in people then led me to study psychology, where I discovered the humanistic approach and then positive psychology, which focuses on both individual and societal wellbeing.
