8.00am. I feel empty and alone.
I arrived in SoutEast Asia on 30th October 2014, just under 5 months ago, I was entering a new chapter in my travels, it was about riding through many wonderful countries experiencing the change in culture and people having spent the previous 2 1/2 months in India, this is what my travels are all about.
It’s all about the people.
This period was about so much more than that, Beth & Olly my grown up kids were going to visit me.
I left my bike and travelled with Beth at the back end of 2014 and the past 4 weeks with Olly. At 10pm last night Olly and I said our goodbyes and he took a bus to the airport to fly back to the UK.
Another chapter has finished.
It’s early in Bangkok, I’m sitting in an outside restaurant drinking coffee, there aren’t many people about yet, Bangkok with be alive and crazy later but now it’s still, as I am. I’m not ready to start the next chapter, I feel empty and alone, pondering when to leave Bangkok, where to go, should I ride alone or hang around as Heiko will be ready to head south too in a few weeks? I’m not ready to make any decisions, I’m not ready for adventure and new people, I want my family back here.
Another coffee please.
10.00 am. I feel worse. Time is a great healer though…
Another hour of feeling sorry for myself and then I got on with the final bike repairs. I hadn’t used the bike over recent months but I did get it serviced, new; tyres, chain & sprockets, head bearings, fork seals, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, brake pads and various repairs including getting the front disc reground. I then packed away the spares Olly brought over from the UK. I have enough spares to do the next two services and deal with basic breakdowns. You know as well as I do I’ll get just outside Bangkok and I’ll have a breakdown I can’t sort out myself!
I deserve a beer.
