Olly and I had a wonderful time traveling together. We stopped in Bangkok for a couple of days and then headed east on a bus to Cambodia where we initially stayed in Siam Reap and visited Angkor Wat. Wow, again! Another bus to Phnom Penh where we visited The Killing Fields & Toul Sleng Prison (genocide museum) before heading south to Sihanoukville and stayed on Otres Beach for a few days relaxing and partying with some great people. We played football with the locals ‘Cambodia vs Europe’, I survived!
I loved travelling along the Southern Cambodia coast, so rural, poor, beautiful and interesting. Kep, the ghost town was interesting but dull and the famous crab market (main tourist attraction) didn’t have any crabs!
We travelled with Frida from Sweden for a week, leaving Otres Beach, crossing the border into Vietnam and after a few days arrived in Can Tho where we explored the Mekong Delta on a small boat. Another bus to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), crazy Saigon! We partied (well, Olly partied and I went to bed early) and took time out to visit the ‘Viet Cong’ tunnels, so interesting.
We said goodbye to Frida and took a plane to Hanoi, possibly my favourite city in SouthEast Asia and possibly the most beautiful women too!
It’s all about the women, I mean the people.
SouthEast Asia is covered in Padi fields and northern Vietnam has more than its fair share. The old quarter of Hanoi with its narrow streets and vibrant life is wonderful, at night the streets are full of people eating, drinking and enjoying life in this great city.
Another bus and a ‘Junk boat’ to Halong Bay where we spent 3 days staying on the boat seeing the thousands of limestone karsts and isles.
Another plane back to Bangkok and we had finished out travels. What a time we had, culture, history, partying, people. Yes, the people, we met so many amazing people, locals and travellers from all over the world. You know who you are and you are welcome at our home anytime x
