Nepal is beautiful with the Himalayas stretching across the northern part of the country.
Kathmandu is a big city and most of it is just like any other city, not very interesting, there are a few places which you should visit though including Paton, Thamel, Basantapur, Durbar Square / old royal palace and the ancient city of Bhaktapur.
I was told like so many cities Kathmandu went through a period within the last 20 years where many lovely old buildings were demolished and replaced with concrete ones. This process has stopped now and old buildings are being restored not demolished in the main.
Outside of Kathmandu the scenery is amazing, take any road north, south, east or west and you’ll be twisting up and down The Himalayas amongst lush green forests with the backdrop of snow capped mountains to the north.
Trekking is the No.1 tourist activity and I can see why.
The people are very friendly and want to engage throughout the country.
