Wheel of Life Tool
How often do you reflect upon how you’re feeling about life? How satisfied are you with your life? Putting time aside to consider these questions can help you focus on what change(s) would help increase your wellbeing. The Wheel of Life helps you focus on which area(s) of your life is out of balance. Plotting each segment of your life on the wheel gives a visual representation of how satisfied you are with the different areas of your life.
Paul Meyer created the original Wheel of Life in 1960, which has been used in various forms ever since. The Wheel of Life attached has the segment names filled in. However, you can change the names if you want to focus on another part of your life: business, relationship, career, health or personal development to name a few. If there is an area of your life which you feel may need attention, use the wheel to give yourself the detail and clarity to understand it.
The Wheel attached is designed to represent your whole life where you score from 1 – 10 how satisfied you are with each area (segment), 1 if you are completely dissatisfied and 10 if you’re totally satisfied, or any measure in-between. Mark your measure by circling the number in each segment. You now have a great picture of which areas of your life to focus on.
You should now ask yourself the following questions?
- If you were to increase your satisfaction level in one area which would have the biggest impact on all the other areas, which area would you change?
- In that area, what would make your satisfaction level a 10?
- What change needs to happen first?
