Day 130 – 14th August 2014 left 7.30am Miles rode 189 Jammu – Srinagar

I rode for 2 hours (100 km) before I stopped for breakfast, I had ascended to 1,450 metres. It was still hot but the landscape had changed, I was on my way to the mountains and the road twisted and turned up a lush green valley where I saw many monkeys and eagles soaring high (that’s the eagles soaring high, the monkeys were just monkeying around).

Another 20 mins and I’m at 2,000 metres in pine covered mountains and it’s COOL! It didn’t last more than 30 mins before I was over the pass and descending into a beautiful valley.

I met Shovic, an Indian doctor from Delhi later who kindly gave me a detailed map of the region, we agreed to me in Delhi when I get there in maybe 10 days.

I hadn’t ridden so long or in such demanding conditions for a few weeks so I was knackered when I arrived in Srinagar but I quickly met Bashir who has a houseboat on Dal Lake so I’ll stay with him and his family for a few nights.
